Depends on the severity. Sometimes it is a symptom of underlying illness, such as a thyroid issue and a simple blood test can pinpoint the issue...other times, you are seeing breakage which can be hormonal, over processing. etc. Use a wide toothed comb and avoid tugging at your hair. Try Redken's Anti Snap...which helps reduce breakage. Some deep conditioning and consulting a trusted stylist is also a good idea to get their experience-based opinion on the state of your hair and scalp. If it continues "badly" I'd consult a physician.

Try finding a shampoo made for hair fall. I was stressed out recently and tried one, and it helped a ton. but if your hair is falling out a lot, and doesn't seem normal I would go to the doctor, rather be safe than sorry.

Had the same problem I switched to the sulfate free shampoo and conditioners and immediately stopped the hair fall. I guess regular products were too harsh for my hair.
