Well if it's the undertone they mismatched you might be nw not nc. Nc is more yellow, where nw is more pink.

Well with all different skin tones and undertones it's best for ideal matches. You want foundation to make your skin look even and natural (in most cases). If you're naturally more yellow (because undertones don't change, skin color can) then you don't want a foundation color made for pink undertones.

Aww :/ I'd still try to get properly color matched eventually. When you find your perfect color in foundation, it'll get easier to gauge other foundations by trying to match them to the foundation that matches you best. And no problem, I'm glad to help :)
