I recently borrowed a lipstick which belongs to my friend, but she gets cold sores. Could using her lipstick give me cold sores, even though I don't get them?

Yes. A cold sore is a virus, so if she used the lipstick while she had an active sore it can be passed to you. I wouldn't share lipsticks.

Sharing any type of makeup is unsanitary. You can pass along cold sores, acne, bacteria, and even eye cyst (been there, done that) If she has something you really have to have then just go get your own. That way you'll both be happy and infection free 😘

Agreed with what everyone else has said. I was infected from secondhand makeup when I was a little kid (my friend's aunt gave us a bunch to play dress-up with). She shouldn't be sharing any products, especially if they aren't sanitized!

Yea you should sanitize it but honestly you'd be better off just getting a new tube of your own. Sanitizing is good and all but you never know just how clean it actually is. Infections and viruses can be hard to kill off. Lipstick can be sanitized while lip gloss can't but it's always better to just have your own personal tube in my opinion.

I wouldn't use it, but then again I don't share anybody's make up no matter what it is

Okay thank you! I won't make a regular habit out of using it, I just borrowed some one time when I needed it :) thank you!
