-NO heat at all!
-Use caster oil (apply directly to scalp, cover it w/ shower cap, sleep w/ it in then wash in the morning)
-do lots of deep conditioning treatments (try coconut oil it's my fave!)
-take multi-vitamins everyday
-Just remember that the healthier your hair is, the faster it will grow

Eat healthy also I would say, I I'm always seeing things on foods that help your hair grow just nutrients and stuff.

I agree with velen. trauma causes certain things to grow faster such as hair, nails and what not. try a garlic hair mask.
