Congrats girl!
I've only been freelancing for a few months now. But I recommend actively trying to learn where everything is- they did a 30 second walk through for me and I was left to my own devices- so on your down time walk around, open drawers and get to know the store or counter.
Also, don't be afraid to ask questions. I find that everyone I've worked with has been happy to help me get adjusted.
Maybe research some products, and try to get some of the prices down. Also remember your favorites so at least you have some things to reccomend in each category.
Wear Mac or comparable colors so people will be interested in products and exploring the colors you wear.
Don't be nervous!
I was, but once you're with a customer it goes away, it's makeup! It's fun :)
