Most likely have to bleach and die it the ash blonde you want. It would be best to go to a salon and have that done professionaly.

The best idea and also to save further damage on your hair might be to use a shampoo that promotes your hair to fade. Head and shoulders or something with tea tree with regular use will help it fade to that colour.

@ericka like a orangey red but my natural color is dark brown and I know that the red I use (loreal hicolor hilights) pre lightens my hair..

I would start by fading it with hot water, lots of not color safe shampoo and apple cider vinegar rinses.
