So I while back I purchased a liquid makeup foundation by covergirl, and I really liked it, the shade matched my skin tone and everything. well I started to run out so I went back to the store and bought another one in the same exact shade. when I got home and put it on, it seemed darker for some reason. csn anyone explain this to me?

You might have just gotten paler or they might have changed the formula.

As the seasons change you either get lighter or darker. So you probably got lighter as it's winter time now (at least on my side of the world), so you will probably need to exchange it for a lighter shade.

I agree. With the changing seasons, you probably got a little paler. I was nice and tan all summer, but as soon as it was October, my tan started to fade. :( Just yesterday I bought my favorite foundation a shade lighter, to match my skin. Just buy it a shade, maybe two shades lighter. Remember to always change your foundation/powder shade with the season change. :)
