I see curling wands are the new thing, but here's what I don't get...what's the difference between them and just using a closed curling iron? Educate me!

With the exception of the tapered curling wands, it's the same thing. You can do the same curls with each(just wrap it around the clamp.) A lot of people like making water waves than ribbon curls. Most people also curl incorrectly (roll from the bottom and hold for a long time) which makes it inefficient. Curling wands make it more efficient for them

Ahhh. I was thinking a lot of the gals on here might not know how to curl "properly" and keep the iron moving etc. but then with YouTube videos now I wasn't sure. My 14yo wanted a curling wand and I was like yeah just don't open the iron.

I had a wand but just ended up using my curling iron without the clamp.

Get it for her. It's a nice starting iron. The tapered wands really do make a different curl. It's easy to use. I prefer to use it over my curling iron. (My hair is really long)

I just use my iron without the clamp but tapered end makes the difference to me. Like Symone perfectly explained!
