It does not last forever. It makes your hair grow back much thinner and lighter in colour, but it will not make the hair disappear forever.
I'm Irish, so prices are probably different than where you live, but over here it is very expensive. It does not hurt, but it can burn. I know a girl who was quite badly burned on her legs.
It works much better on people with thick, dark hair. I think that at 17, you should find different options. I'm 18, and I shave/wax. You could buy an epilator if shaving and waxing bothers you. (Google these for more information.) overall, I would not advise laser hair removal until you're older.

You should probably research it a little more before you decide on something so huge, lol!
1) it's not pain free. I've heard it actually can be quite painful, depending where you go & how experienced the person you're going to is.. check their credentials first.
2) it takes way more than one session to make it permanent. it takes several & becomes quite pricey as the average cost per session is $235.
3) I suppose the negative side would be that it isn't gond in one session (especially if you want to do your whole body :/) & the skin becomes basically sunburnt afterwards, so buy sunscreen & alo vera gel! lol.

honestly, I'd say good luck convincing your mom to do your whole body, especially with how expensive it will be. will 1 session costing around $235, & it taking several sessions to do each part of your body, you're going to sink $1000's of dollars into this. as well, they're starting to come out with at-home laser hair removal devices, believe it or not! I saw an advertisement in this months Cosmo :3 so I'd honestly wait love, but that's just me.

17 is too early...I did it wen I was 23 coz thats when doc was fine but still wasn't happy to hear about it..as at your age the hair and skin is still at its growing n delicate stage..the cost differs a lot with d place, doc n typ of laser removal..However I would advise you to get into your late 20s n do ut will make a difference.

I'm 17 too and I literally just went to a laser hair removal consultation last week. I'm planning on starting out getting my legs done and it's around $8000. I went to Ideal Image and they're supposedly the best in the business. It's pretty permanent but if your hair grows back they'll redo it with no cost. It takes 9 sessions and up to a year and a half for the entire process. I honestly don't think being 17 is a problem, she actually said I was a great candidate. I'm currently trying to convince my parents too. Hope this helps! And good luck :)

It's a few treatments before it's permanent and it will most likely hurt at least a little.
