Do you depot your smaller eye shadow palettes, like the Wet n Wild palettes? Pros and cons of depotting? I am having my doubts about it and would love to hear your opinions.
thanks!

I do! I depot everything. I like to keep my neutrals together, and bright colors separate. Also I wouldn't show a client if you are using wet n wild.

Lol I almost posted the same question today! I'm wondering the answer too...I have 12 individual LORAC shadows that fall to the bottom of my makeup bin and I never use them bc I forgot about them. I'm thinking about purchasing a Z Palette but I have no idea how to even depot them!

There's a really good article in the forum section on depotting.

Arianna, do you use Wet n Wild on clients? The reason I am considering depotting is that I have all these small eye palettes that don't get the love they deserve, and maybe if they are in one big palette, I might use them more.

I don't use wet n wild. I buy shadows when they go on sale. Urbandecay.com has $6 eyeshadows that last forever too. Here's how to depot:
1. Get wax paper
2. Take your flat iron
3. Use the heat from the flat iron to melt the glue that's keeping the metal pan in place.
4. Use a metal spatula to gentle lift the metal pan out of the palette.
If you break a shadow in this process, it's ok. You can drop rubbing alcohol into the eyeshadow and let it soak up, swirl it around and let it dry.

I have a full z palette of depotted Wet n Wild shadows however I'm not makeup artist I just use them on myself :) What I did was take a lighter and melt the back plastic bit till it was bendy, then take a toothpick or something and just push the shadow pan out from the back and it'll fall into your hand. My boyfriend helped me and we depotted 50 shadows in 2 or so hours so it's kinda tedious hahahaha. A large Z Palette will hold 9 WNW trios but you might have a little trouble fitting in the last shadow lol.

I personally am not crazy about UD. I have the Book of shadows 3, and another smaller palette, and feel there is too much chunky glitter in them. On the other hand I love Inglot, which I use A LOT on my clients.

Grace, once you depotted them, did you feel you used them more?

Yes! Definitely. My single shadows, smaller palettes (trios, quads, etc) and my pigments all get totally neglected because I tend to reach for bigger palettes. After depotting I use them all the time and even hit pan on a couple :) It's also easier to do different looks with them because you don't have to keep the shadows in the order the company put them :) I have 1 column for neutrals, one for highlight shades, etc :)

Urban decay is great for Indian brides. I use it on them all the time.
