Michelle Phan's tutorial is my favorite one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdp_UAvA1zk
Use small strokes, not a single stroke because like her, my hands are kinda shaky. Hope it helps!

I had the same problem the first time i used liquid liner. I watched videos on youtube and looked up tips on how to apply it and it just never came out right... honestly when it comes to eyeliner, i think practice makes perfect! i practiced a TON before i got the hang of using liquid liner and actually liked the way it turned out. good luck! :)

I actually always you a pencil or crayon first in the same shade of your liquid liner to line your eye. THEN I go over it with my liquid liner and able to wing it out easier. Applying the pencil/crayon first kind of forms an outline where it's easier to follow with the liquid an will come out looking less squiggly or uneven with your other eye. But basically practice makes perfect.

Getting a liquid liner with the right kind if applicator for you is essential to how you will put it on. Some applicators are brush like with tons if little hairs (my favorite) and others are a felt tip that is much more solid. So try both and see which one feels easier to work with.
Also, start in the middle of the eyelid when applying . Sometimes it's not a shaky hand that can make eyeliner look bumpy but the natural wrinkles and extra skin on our eyelids. So, start in the middle and with small strokes work outwards and the go and define the beginning with a sloped effect.
Last tip I have for you is to place a finger on your face while you apply, like an anchor. And make sure to keep your brush at a slant.
