But I you're worried about putting it in your hair die to chemicals and such, you can always try lemon juice as a safer and natural approach :)

Sun in is bad for your hair, it's the same amount as bleaching it's just a gradual damage instead of all in one hour as bleach is. Another thing is, if you have ANY red tones in your hair, it will go a light ginger color not completely blonde. I used sun in for a complete summer and I had sooo much red in it I went from dark brown almost black to a gross dirty orange color lol.

My friend uses sun in and it works very well and gives a good colour but her hair is quite dry and dead now.

I don't recommend sun in unless somewhat naturally blonde the color will not come out nicely and makes hair very dry

Much like any other process to remove pigment from the hair or lift color, Sun-In is incredibly damaging. So is lemon juice, so is bleach. If you have red tones in your hair (which many people do), your hair will likely go orange rather than blonde. Also, it is incredibly difficult to correct the color in a salon after Sun-In (or any other "home remedy") screws it up; you'll end up having to pay twice as much and dying it dark again just to repair the damage.
Go to a salon and get highlights put in; it only costs about $20 for a partial highlight in salons in my area.
