I tried to start wearing lipstick and when I do it tends to dry and flake up my lips which result in having to take it off And just wear chapstick. I usually apply chapstick before it and use a toothbrush to scrub my lips. What can I do to help? Now it's winter and they dry quick. Help?

Try sleeping with vaseline or a good lipbalm overnight and every night. Keeps your lips very moisturized.

Along with Mistreece's advice of wearing vaseline overnight I would also recommend drinking more water throughout the day. I know when my lips start getting chapped it's usually because I'm not getting enough H2O! :) Also, you might want to try applying chapstick before you start your makeup and then applying another layer right before you put on your lipstick. If it's too greasy, or you want it to have a matte finish then you could always blot off the excess. :)

That is my favorite winter lip balm. It IS pricey at $20 but it's so worth it in my opinion. My lips are horrible in the winter, cracked, peeling, so so chapped and sometimes really painful. This stuff hydrates so well and the little jar lasts forever so I see it being worth every penny. Fresh is my other favorite balm but it doesn't last quite as long as this does so I think you get more bang for your buck. It is more of a night time treatment, that's how I use it, but occasionally I'll use it during the day if my lips are really chapped. It also looks pretty good over lipstick too. It's a little shiny, more like a sheen though. I usually just use it at night because dipping my finger in a jar of lip balm can be inconvenient and I don't want germs getting in it so I usually just save it for night when I know I'll have washed my hands before using it.

Exfoliate and moisturise first before you put on lipstick. Make sure you let the lip balm soak in first and then remove any excess.

Baby lips works great for me. I put it on whenever they are chapped and it helps them a lot. They come in different colors and you can find them about anywhere. They make your lift soft, protect from the sun, heal chapped lips, and make your lips shinny!! Amazing product under $5

My lips are the same exact way if I'm not wearing Chapstick my lips are dry but I found that if I wore Vaseline on my lips more often rather than just regular Chapstick my lips have been way softer and less dry also choose lipsticks with a creamy base so that they're not just sitting on your lips but moisturizing them also.

Get a medicated chapstick and wait for your lips to heal than apply lipstick

Try a different lipstick brand.

Caitlin..I completely agree with you. A little goes a very long way with lasting results. Philosophy truly does make some amazing, quality products. I'd also incorporate a light sugar scrub (I make my own these days). Matte and long wearing formulas can be drying.
