Hi girls, I'm 17 and been invited for my first ever job interview for an apprenticeship as an accountant! I'm told to dress smart, but I'm only young and never had to buy smart work clothes!! I found this dress on twitter an think it's perfect with thick tights, black ballet pumps a black coat and bag, but my mum thinks it's too dressy! I think it's just cause of the model she makes it look like it's meant to be for a night out but it's an oversized knit jumper basically!!, what do yous think??

Hey, I think it could work, its nothing too flashy or in-your-face and also, its modest. And I think that that is what most companies are looking for! nobody wants any titties bulging out! anyway, if you really wanna play safe and you still aren't confident with this outfit, an office skirt/pants with a white office shirt and black coat could never go wrong! perhaps once you're accepted into their company, you could see how chill they are with office attire and then adjust your outfits thereafter! best of luck with the interview :) xx

Aww thank you, I know office shirt and pants would be the obvious option, I just wanna be kinda stylish too! I love the dress it's just my mums putting me off haha, yeah I can't wait to get in the office and see what they all actually work! Aw thank you!!xx

Yes, it's too dressy for work. If you're going to wear tight things, make them longer. If you're going to wear shorter things, make them looser. Trust me, I've had jobs without uniforms, it's all about being classy. For example, as an accountant don't dress like you're going to a club (which is how that dress looks to me). Try a dress you would wear to church/synagogue/a nice lunch with your grandmother instead. You need to look professional, and heels and tights won't do enough to make that dress professional, I don't think. I'm so sorry if this comes out sounding harsh, I just think that a short, tight dress shouldn't be considered workplace appropriate.

I agree with Hannah. That looks like a body con not really work appropriate to me. I think something like this would be more appropriate.

Wear it with a black blazer and some professional flats. Do not wear a lot of makeup.

I'd say no to your dress its short and to tight and even with tight under its not right cuz they are still showing of your legs cuz they are so tight, in a interview you want them to look at you not at your body and even if you got the job wearing anything way up before your knees is very unprofessional I'm a post up pictures of some professional clothing

When your in a interview always look at them, don't look at your feet or play with your hands, be confident, don't stutter, don't go on and on, on a question make it short and sweet, never say nothing negative about your self always say something positive for example they as this question a lot what is one of your flaws, and this is a perfect answer, one of my flaws would have to be being too organized because I take time to organize everything to make sure everything is where it is supposed to be, this is an example of course you could use it in an interview but I just wanted to give you an example on never saying something negative good luck hope you get the job =D.

It's cute, but I don't think you should wear something that tight.

I don't think this is very appropriate for work only because it reminds me more of a club dress. Try something more modest?

Thing is though I would never wear a knitted dress on a night out haha it's an oversized jumper it says in the description! The other option I see loads of girls who work in offices are black high wasted body con skit with a blouse and tights, that's exactly the same length and both tight! Maybe it might be where I'm from, to be honest I'd class this dress as modest compared to most girls in my city liverpool!

By the way I'd never wear heels in the daytime whether it's for work or not, so black flats would dress it down completely anyway in my opinion!
