I'm genuinely inexperienced with make up in every way. My routine is wash, moisturize, liquid foundation, and then mascara. That's literally it. It's been the same since grade school and I'm in need of a makeover, the problem is I don't know half the stuff people are even using in their tutorials, can someone lay out the basics at least for me please.

I'm the same way I agree with Selina, Carli Byel is the best you should definitely look her up on YouTube she shows you step by step on some of her older videos

Does she give product names and such? That's the biggest problem, everyone's like do this and that with this, and I'm like what even is that and where do I find it lol.

Most people on YouTube say what the product is and what shade it is and even where you can get it. If they don't it's usually always in the information box.

Maybe try going to a makeup store a makeup counter and asking them to help you like what looks best on you and what are some good products to use. Or go to a drugstore or target and look at the options and expirement different products. Hope that helps

Primer - Applied underneath makeup to help fill pores, smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, pretty much to prep the face for foundation...also prolongs foundations wear time.
Foundation - You know what it is
Powder - Applied after the foundation to keep it in place. Apply it in your oily areas, especially your T-Zone. Keeps your foundation on longer and gives you a matte look.
Concealer - Applied to cover up dark circles/spots. They also have color correcting concealers which work how the color wheel works. Red cancels green, yellow cancels purple, ect.
Blush - Applied to the apples of the cheeks for a flushes glowy look
Contour/Highlight - Watch Jaclyn Hills Video. She explains this very well.
Eye shadow - You know what this is but most people use atleast 3 shades; 1. A highlight color for under your brow bone (if you have hooded eyes stay away from shimmery shades -- you want a matte flesh tone color. 2. An all over lid color 3. A crease color which is usually a black, dark brown, or a shade a few shades darker than your lid color. (Ie. A light purple all over the lid with a deep violet in the crease.)
Eyebrows - Watch a video on YouTube
Lip liner - Outlines the lips for a full effect, also can be applied all over the lips for an all over color or under lipstick

I think the most important thing is to search for products that aren't as pricey and just have fun with the on your free time...
what you do is perfect, it just kind of depends where you wanna take your makeup, the sky is the limit here.
A good makeup application starts with a good skin care ( depending on your skin type of course will vary).

what I do is the next.

-Wash my face in the morning with a lotion cleanser, good for the winter times, with a wash rag.
-Use toner Origins in my case.
-Moisturizer.

Now foundation wise, you can do whatever here.
Remember that if you are going to use a primer blot off excess moisturizer and apply a tiny bit of your primer.

Foundation should be layered in thing even layers and not over apply, that's what concealer is for.
oh yes almost forgot, before you start applying anything else use some lip balm, that way your lips are ready for any lipstick if you plan to put on some.
eyeshadow, this is the part that you'll have to just have fun with, takes time to learn how to blend, but once you do, your makeup will be just flawless and whatever question feel free to contact me :-)
