Be Aware of What You Put on Your Face.

So, I was doing some research the other day on comedogenic products and came across SO many sites that
show how pore clogging coconut oil is.
It's rated high, which mean the probability that it will clog your pores and give you breakouts is very likely.
I know that coconut oil for EVERYTHING is the trend right now, and I even tried it out myself... That's how I learned just how bad it can break you out.
The crazy and scary part about it all is that I never once put coconut oil directly on my face, I was just using it as a body moisturizer and sometimes for hair. I even made an extra point to keep it away from my face.
That means that just the littlest bit I got indirectly on my face set me into a downward spiral of breakout after breakout.
Save yourself and learn from me..
If you still don't believe, then check out the sites below

Coconut oil works wonderful for me. I use it every night on my face and started getting compliments on my skin the week I started using it. I have very dry skin so that might be why it works woners for me. I love it as a deep conditioner for my hair too. Leaves it super shiny and healthy. Thanks for the info though. :)

Not everyone's skin is alike in that it will break everyone out. I use it myself from head-to-toe sometimes and it hasn't given my oily/combo skin any issues. It has antibacterial properties in it so for my skin it has been very helpful when I had broken out so bad in ugly hives on my face from some facial wipes touting themselves as gentle and all natural to when I overslept at the beach and got a little burnt on my chest. What works horribly for one person might work miracles for another.

It's great if it works for you, I just want people to know that it's not a fix all.
The craze right now is to use it everywhere but for most of us that's not possible.
Also people might be using it thinking it's helping but can't figure out why they are breaking out

Very true Whitney. No single product certainly isn't a fix all. I wish it was.lol. It would save me and everyone else ao much money.lol.

Lol I wish there was a fix all product too Shelly. I'd be 15pds heavier, silky shiney hair and the skin of a 20 yr old! That IS great info Whitney, I'm sure there are a ton of others, like you, who can not use coconut oil because of breakouts. You may save someone a lot of agony of trying to figure out what's causing them to have such bad acne.

This thread had me thinking...I'm allergic to citrus. I will break out in mad hives if I consume too much of it. And if its in skincare products it has sit at the bottom of the ingredients list to avoid trouble. If I used lemon juice as a spot treatment for acne as some people have suggested here on BL I would be in dire trouble. Its definitely all about being aware and treading carefully with everything we use on our skin. Thank you for posting this Whitney. ;)

Most natural oils clog my pores.. :-(
I'm all about keeping natural..every person has to find what works for them.

I use coconut oil for my hair (as trmt before wash) and the rest of my body but not really my face. I don't think it should be used for everything on everybody, it's just a big deal cuz it's so versatile. I hate to be off topic but the best uses to me are baked goods! They can replace butter for healthier options. And it is a great for a " personal lubricant" lol. Me and hubby swear by it and it has natural antibacterial properties so it's safe. Sorry if that's tmi lol. But be smart and don't use with condoms.

And Shelley. I think I'm sensitive to citrus on my face too. If I use too many vitamin c serums or actual lemon as a treatment then my face is in dire trouble like you said. But I do use the lemon flash peel by ole henrikson with no prob. I just steer clear of vitamin c products and no DIY citrus trmnt for me!

I've thrown it in my protein shakes, I use it in my homemade banana and apple spice cakes. Between using milled flaxseed, coconut and olive oils my fridge hasn't seen real butter in several years.
