Has anyone lightened their hair with lemon juice, honey, or peroxide? How did it turn out?

I just started honey, heard it was a super gradual process and so far it's holding up. One use and no difference at all.

Is lightened my hair with peroxide...it turned my hair a reddish orange...I wouldn't recommend it lol. Thank god I didn't do my whole head.

Honey does work however. Read this:

Peroxide is mixed with hair lightener and does most of the lifting so you might as well bleach it. Lemon juice might discolor it a slight bit but will mostly dry your hair out and I don't see honey do anything.

The only problem with any of those is you don't know your end result. And your hair looks pretty brown in your picture, so it might be that you get orange tones.

I tried lemon juice years ago...didn't really do anything. I would suggest going to a salon for any initial lightening and then using either lemon juice or a lightening spray (like John Frieda's sheer blonde line) to keep brassiness away. Megan makes a great point, you'll never really know how light your hair is going to go and unless you're already naturally sort of blonde you're probably going to pull up a lot of orange/yellow not so pretty tones lol. I was bleach blonde for a whole year and I was DIYing it because I was broke and in college and didn't have time/money to get it done properly...and it was bad. It looked bad 80% of the time and now I'm growing it out and my hair had been so damaged. Being blonde is fun but it's a lot of work to keep it looking good and usually it's very hard on the hair :/ I'm not trying to disappoint you or anything like that, just some words of caution. After my experience I learned this: when going blonde, always go to a salon lol.
