I have straight, thin hair. How can I make it look better while I have it down :(

Try doing pin curl sets. Not with a curling iron, but the old fashion way. They are easy to wear and last days.

I put volumizer at the roots and blow dry upside down almost the whole time. It definitely gives it some lift.

I have the same hair type. I use the Vidal Sassoon volumizing shampoo and conditioner, towel dry, spray it's a 10! Miracle volume hair spray and batiste dry shampoo at the roots, flip my head over, and use a large paddle brush while blow drying. Then I set my dryer on cool and blow it for about five minutes. This gives me volume all day, and it's easy to do.

I'd go with Symone!s suggestion lift those roots, get some volume going and bend the hair.
