A color corrector would camouflage that problem. A peach or yellow color correction will take care of those dark spots(peach if you're dark and yellow if you're light.) If your pimples are red then a green color corrector will cover those. You out those under your facial product of choice then go through and put concealer over top.

Mario Badescu's Whitening Mask is great for acne scarring and dark spots. http://www.mariobadescu.com/whitening-mask
Also look for products that contain arbuitin. It's a naturally derived skin brightener that when used overtime will lighten and brighten skin to diminish dark spots. Hydroquinone is another skin lightener, but has received controversy in some states as it's said to be harmful if used in large doses. 2% hydroquinone is available I believe but I would use caution.
Lytera from Skin Medica <http://www.astonishingskincare.com/SkinMedica-LYTERA-Skin-Brightening-Complex_p_3835.html> is a great skin brightener that my company recommends for dark spots. It doesn't contain hydroquinone so it's a suitable choice for skin brightening. It's very pricey however, so I would definitely go with Mario Badescu's Whitening Mask. I've used it and it's done wonders for my skin. Also, Mario Badescu's Whitening Mask contains balsam peru which is a skin calmer so it would be great as a double agent for your skin: helping with dark spots and acne.
Hope this helps :)
