A couple of months ago I had to get a new hair stylist and decided to try one that had just opened close to where I live. I asked to get some subtle layers like I have on this picture as it was something I had tried many times before and I loved it. However the new stylist ended up completly butchering my hair.

This is what it looks like now (the long part is in a ponytail) all the way around she cut one layer and at the back she cut of a large chunck of my hair so it looks like I'm missing some hair at that place. Besides that, when I flaten my hair or curl it or try to do anything with it at all it looks like I'm wearing a bob wig and long extension. It looks completely idiotic and I have no ideas of how to hide it or treat it so it will get long enough for it to get corrected. I want hip long hair and at the moment it's just 5 cm below my shoulder. Any ideas of what to do?

Cutting it is out of the question and I really can't afford to go to another hair stylist and get anything done to it :(

A slighty better pic of the side it looks the best. As you can tell it looks like I have just two layers that are positioned really weird.

The long parts of my hair reaches just above my breasts and the short part doesn't even reach my shoulders.

I cut my own hair using a YouTube video by jennissemakep. it came out great. other than that I don't know what to say? it sucks I've had a bad hair cut too.

I agree with Rebecca. I wouldn't have left that salon knowing I hated my haircut. I would go back and request a re-do.

Go back and have them fix it for sure. You paid them, and you didn't get what you paid for. I'd go back for sure.

D: I had a hair lady do that too... I don't trust stylists anymore. Usually when someone's like 'I'm a stylist I would know!' I'm like omg everyone run before your hair gets fucked sideways..
I think the best thing to do is to use clip in extensions. Maybe try parting your hair to one side, mess around with it.

It you can find someone who knows what they are doing get them to blend what the girl did. She probably didn't connect that layer with your bottom layer.

I would not return at this juncture nor would I recommend entrusting your hair to a brand new salon. Check Yelp or Foursquare and peek at photos and reviews for salons. After some recon, let an experienced, reputable stylist blend your layers.

Go back to that place tell them thats not layers done right &if they can have sum 1 another person fix just the front parts I'd think...thats where layers beginning at right!!? tell them tho wherr you want them to start. or maybe you can fo it its not hard. I would do it when I didn't have cash to go to a salon

I am so sorry, girly. I had the same experience. My hair naturally grows in a "V" shape, the back is a lot longer than the front and I basically wanted it reversed into an A-Line bob.
The man cutting my hair didn't think this would suit me, DIDN't TELL ME THAT, and then proceeded to chop off the long hair in the back of my head that he referred to as a "tail" and refused to touch the front.
I left holding back tears and called the salon back the next day asking for it to be fixed. They booked me with the master stylist. Instead of giving me what I wanted in the first place, she decided to turn me around (so I couldn't see it) and cut my hair some more. For lack of better words, I resembled Justin Bieber in his "One Time" days.
Long story short, I took my butt to the beauty supply store, bought some clip in extensions and never looked back.

Oh wow. I know exactly what she did wrong and she did it all wrong. In school they teach you how to cut hair different than how you will in real life usually. They teach you what they call "a uniform layered cut" which they don't angle out or allow for the sides at all. In result there is huge difference between the front and the back. More than likely this girl is fresh out of school and hasn't learned that the only thing you do that on is a mannequin. But then again, I knew that was a no before I got out of school...

Also, some of the comments above are pretty annoying. Just because you've had a bad experience with a stylist, or even several stylists does not mean every person who does hair is going to come at you like they are sheering a sheep. I am a stylist and I definitely don't like cutting all of someone's hair off. I normally cut it longer at first and ask if they want it shorter because I love long hair and some people do decide they want to keep the length and if you cut it all off in one go they don't have that option of saying they want to keep it or I show them in the mirror or hold where they can't see it, etc. and show them what I'm going to cut before I cut it. So please, understand that all hair stylists are not just on a mission to screw up your hair or make you bald.

Thanks so much for the advice girls, I think I'll try to go with the cut the long layer until they match and then just put my hair up until then :) thank you so much darlings! <3.
