What are some good foundation and powder brushes?

I love the elf flat top powder brush for foundation! And it's only three dollars I love it more than my high end ones

Agree with that elf brush! It's awesome. The small stipple brush is great for foundation too. Ecotools does an amazing classic foundation brush and the bamboo retractable kabuki I love for powder :)

MAC and Real Techniques. I agree with the elf flat top powder brush. It's dense and good for the price.

I love Real Techniques! They are super high quality but really not that expensive! You can get 5 face brushes for like $17! I am in love with them.

Are most of the brushes here available in drugstores?
Nov 17, 2013
Jessica V.
Not many are available in drugstores but I'm almost positive that elf is sold in target. There may be a very small selection in the drugstore and it most likely won't be a high quality.

I love my sigma brushes, especially the F80 for foundation:)

I'll go ahead and agree with the others in support of e.l.f. or Real Techniques. If you go with e.l.f. choose brushes from the studio collection, which cost $3 bucks opposed to the basic $1 brushes (which aren't as nice). If you go with Real Techniques you'll spend a few bucks more -- however the brush quality is solid, especially the buffing and stippling brushes. I haven't used Eco Tools, however I've seen many good reviews for them, and the prices are also very affordable if that's a concern. Both drugstores and major retailers carry Eco Tools (at least in the US), however the other two brands mentioned can be found at Target.

My experience w ELF brushes was not good at all. I recommend that you purchase one brush versus a whole set first just to try it.

I love my elf brushes as well. I have the ecotools foundation brush and it kind of scratches my skin, so I don't use it often

Also, I love the bare minerals concealer brush

Are the real technique brushes only online?
Nov 17, 2013
Chloe T.
The real technique brushes are owned by Eco tools but created by Samantha Chapman, both equally as good and worth the small investment
