Just wanting to have a little rant.
I have been looking into getting some Real Techniques makeup brushes designed by Samantha Chapman from Pixiwoo, and I found a website that I thought posted to Australia. Ordered some sets being really excited seeing that they were only $18 for 5 brushes. Went to finalize my order to see that it was shipping to America only.
Went on the Priceline website (only place that actually stocks the brand in Australia) and saw that the same set was $40.00!!
That's not even correct with exchange rate!
I am so sick of the ridiculous pricing for us here! And it's even worse in New Zealand
A MAC lipstick in America is $15 but $36 in Australia.
Arrrrggh it's hard to afford things as a MUA as well as keeping my prices reasonable.
Anyone else feel the same?

It's usually about 10$ more than America here in Canada too. But it's because of shipping rates. Mac is a Canadian company that was bought by the states and all the products are made in Canada and USA. But because they have the ship to Australia it's more expensive. Brands that are from there would be more expensive here. It's dumb, but they have to stay afloat while sending a whole bunch of products overseas. My mom went to Germany and she said that a drugstore 8$ lipstick brand here was a 40$ purchase there. She asked why it was so expensive And they said because they have to pay for the cost to get it over here, if they sold it for the same they'd go broke so they sell it to the point where they'd be making money off it and not just breaking even.

It's really frustrating!
Even some of our Australian brands are expensive in comparison
We just got NYX in our targets here and it's 3x the price in America
I think I need to find an American best friend who can send me stuff :p

It is incredibly frustrating. You can get the real techniques brushes on iherb.com for a lot cheaper and they will ship to Australia. You can also google a code to receive $10 off for orders over $40 or $5 off for orders over $30 I think.

Thanks Dee :)
Appreciate it :)
It just sucks. Even drug store branded makeup is overpriced.
I feel disadvantaged :(

That really sucks... I don't know anything about shipping prices, but what if you knew someone in the states, have them a list of what you wanted, and had them buy it, package it, and ship it to you? Would that be cheaper or way more expensive?

Much cheaper, however I don't know anyone from the states!! :p.
