Have you heard of the brand butter? Well it's amazing! They have a nice shine too. The nail polish is fairly thin and goes on the nail easily. However, it's a little expensive compared to other nail polish. 14 dollars. :/

I second China Glaze. They have a huge selection of cheap colors and the formula is generally very good. Illamasqua is by far my favorite department store brand. They come out with beautiful, unique colors that are super opaque and the formula is like butter for your nails. I change my nail polish every 2-3 days so I can't comment much on wear, but China Glaze and Illamasqua are both known for being pretty chip-resistant.

With polish it seems (in my opinion) that the cheapest ones work the best!! I love china glaze, l.a. Gear, sinful colors, list goes on! :)

I recently bought my first OPI polishes and I love them! The application is amazing! I like China Glaze as well. With both of these brands as well as a Seche base and top coat, my polish lasts 7-8 days. I actually change my polish because I'm tired of it, not because it's chipped!(:

Virtually all the inexpensive brands chip on me after a couple of days, even with a top coat (I use China Glaze's currently). Even Essie chips after very little wear, and that's a brand I like!
Recently I tried one of the Illamasqua ones (same price as butter london - $14 USD). Minor tip wear after two days (I didn't apply a top coat as the one I tried was Scorn, which sets matte), didn't start chipping until day five.

HI, I think almost any inexpensive polish is Ok to use as long as your nails are super clean for the application and you use a quality top coat like Seche.

Before you buy a really expensive polish think about how often you're going to use the color. Like for me, I have a few basic colors I wear often, reds, burgandies & nudes, but some of the more intense, fun colors like blue, green, neon, metallics etc I don't wear as often & for those I tend to go with the cheaper brands. That said, cheaper is a good way to go if going for a trendy color vs a classic color. Like, a good classic red IMHO is worth spending more on vs say a glittery orange that I may only wear 2-3 times before it gets boring, or tired.
