Black is going to cover anything it touches...especially red you might have a red tint in the sun but that's it. It's going to turn black lol nothing complicated about it

I would give your hair a break for a while. black will go over the red, you may get a slight shimmer of red in the sunlight but as it will be the under colour... no one would notice
