Wedding Makeup Crisis

So I have been asked to do make up for a friends wedding for SIX people and the bride and maid of honor don't want foundation...I'm kind of freaking out cause how do you do bridal makeup without foundation. I tried to explain that it will look very unfinished. I am very worried about how this will all look when someone doesn't
want their skin to look flawless but expects to have their eyes and everything done. I think it will really just look awful...any advice??

Will she use bb cream an concealer? you can get a good look with that as long as her skin is not really bad.

Will they do a mineral powder?...
use a moisturizer n buff the powder into the skin before the moisturizer has time to soak in.. it still feels like they aren't wearing anything.
I've had a bride that didn't want lipstick, but foundation?. jeezzz..

I know lol!! and I did mention atleast using a bb cream and they seemed very hesitant about that. I really worry that when I do it and they see it they are going to dislike it because it is definitely not going to look good, I know that...I asked them to come before hand so I could do a trial on and they said they would but we are nearing the date and they haven't mentioned it since...they are expecting me to show up that morning and do it...I think it is a disaster waiting to happen

I am going to try again to try to explain to them the negatives of not agreeing to wear foundation...I know if it was me, the main concern I would have is making sure my skin, above all else, looked flawless. if I were getting married I would want my pictures to look amazing. I love makeup and any time anyone asks me to give them advice or lessons I am more excited than the person asking for advice! I am in no way conceited but I have a passion for anything beauty and fashion related and I love looking my best and trying to help others see a side of themselves they didn't know was there or didn't know they could achieve...its just really frustrating but I obviously don't want people seeing the wedding photos and saying oh god who did your make up cause it looks awful because I know I could do so much better if they would just agree to let me do it lol. thanks for your advice and comments...it is really making me think twice though about even agreeing to it in the first place.

Erica...I'm not an artist but I know plenty who are and this sounds like one big train wreck. If I was you I would take a pass on this gig. They aren't touching base with you to do a trial run and its getting close to the date. Because if you did a half job because of their "requirements" its your work that will be immortalized forever in photography (wedding pics). I'd let 'em walk go. One door closes but another will open.

Why on earth don't they want foundation??! I agree with Shelley on this one. Or you could show them this and hope they come to their senses...? Good luck.

I agree with Shelley. If they don't want a trial run I'd back off. I know plenty of women who do not wear foundation anytime with the exception being a special occasion. If you can't get them to commit to a trial run then I wouldn't do it. It's your reputation on the line and if they don't trust your suggestions then they need to find someone else.

Thanks everyone for your input. I will definitely take your advice and tell them exactly that. it sucks to turn down jobs but I like you said, it is my reputation and I don't want people seeing something awful and thinking that's all I can do. it would be an embarassment.

I don't know you personally Erica but I'm proud of you for sticking up for yourself and your work. Like I mentioned above...while one door closes another will open. Opportunity is everywhere so don't allow this missed opportunity to bring you down. :)

I put it in my contact and rates that the makeup application is a FULL face application. Meaning it includes everything and leave it up to them to opt out of something if they they chose against it, but that does not effect the price, it's still the same. You just have to be very clear and direct from the get- go. Hope this helps for next time. You don't really want that sort of client that is going to nickel and dime you because they think they can get a bargain. Trial runs are not an option, in my contract you have to have a trial run.
Makeup is an investment and an art and if you want to makeup school and continue ongoing education like I like to, you know it's not cheap either. Charge what your worth, because you sure get what you pay for (i.e experience, professionalism, quality). Then you will begin to start to weed out this type of client who isn't a great match for you and is just looking for a deal.
