Yes try a hair cut.. you should also Consider deep Conditioning your hair as it sounds like it needs it. do try to lay off the heat may blow dry using cool air (if your blow dryer has the option)
also just because you use colour protected shampoos does not mean it will do the job. try to go for sulfate free shampoo as it will help with the color and is also better for your hair. I hope this helps.

For repair, use essential oil conditioning treatments like pro naturals moroccan argan oil hair mask once a week and get regular trims to prevent split or damaged ends. Try not to use heat or dyes on your hair either! You can also massage your scalp once a week with coconut oil, almond oil or argan oil to help stimulate health and growth, and leave in the oil for about 30-50 minutes to let it sink in and work. This kind of thing is very repairing. Also, get regular trims!

Try to wash your hair every other day if you can, it'll help the color last longer as well as let it heal. The cut will help, you might also try avocado/coconut oil masks. Biotin supplements will also help!
