So today in my English class, we had to read an article about the dangers of washing your hair with shampoo. It said to wash your hair with baking soda & vinegar instead. I know that you should use sulfate free shampoo, but should you not use shampoo at ALL?! I'm really not sold on this idea. I want to hear allll of your opinions on this! Do any of you not use shampoo? Thaaaanks loves!

I've heard about the vinegar and baking soda treatment, but I've never tried it. I've been meaning to try it though, it's supposed to be really good for your hair.

I'd hate to put vinegar in my hair because the smell.. Its not something I would do. interesting though I never heard of it.

Monica, exactly! Like I just think it would be really gross.

I've heard that it's bad too, but I've also heard that shampooing less works fine:)

I was told to shampoo every other day, but because I have oily hair, I do it every day. I also heard watering down your shampoo is good, but I'm not completely sure.

I think baking soda and vinegar work as a homemade clarifying shampoo to remove the build ups. But to use it instead of shampoo, EWWWW so gross!

Like the article wasn't really so much about what shampoo does to your hair, but it said there is chemicals and carcinogens in shampoo that's harmful to your body.

Like that shampoo is actually dangerous.

Try co-washing your hair, that way you can add moisture to your hair if you don't want to shampoo wash it? But shampooing it with normal shampoo is good a couple times a week is good to reduce the build up from your scalp, just not everyday! 😁

I used that treatment for about two weeks and it was the best my hair ever looked! it didn't smell like vinegar and it was clean, shiny, and soft! it just felt so much healthier without using all the chemicals that are in shampoo and conditioner. its too bad I got too lazy to mix it all every day:/

We've been using shampoo for a good while now and it doesn't seem to have any major affects, or any minor ones really, that are noticeable except to professionals who observe and experiment this kind of stuff. Just think about it, if it was so chemically dangerous, wouldn't people have heard about it? Obviously it's not to an extreme degree and maybe it's a little bad for you, but what isn't? lol. Anyways, shampooing less is recommended- every other day on your roots & scalp only. Then you can use conditioner on the rest of your hair (away from your roots, of course) and it should stay clean. The days you don't shampoo your hair, it's also recommended to use some leave-in conditioner... I think, haha. I don't use it so I don't remember. That's just what I've read :) Hope this helps?

The while I think about it, soo many people use shampoo on a regular basis, and their hair is just fine. I agree Tu-Quyen!

I thought the same thing. I mean, everything seems to have carcinogens anymore. I thought the idea was a little crazy. I appreciate all of your help. <3.

My hair has literally grown a ton since dropping the normal shampoo for apple cider vinegar. It works, but I also only use heat about once every year or so. I have been meaning to try ACV and baking soda together.

I haven't used shampoo for 2 months now. I have just co-washed my hair and it's much softer now :)

I've heard about that method but heard terrible things about a "transition period" where your hair gets oily and weird so that kept me from trying it.

Thanks everyone! :) I'm still a little skeptical about not using shampoo, so for now, I'm going to continue using it. But maybe one day I'll try the vinegar & baking soda. I appreciate your input!
