I bought some a4 magnetic sheets off ebay, and you can either use a cute metal pencil case, or one of the new metal framed purses that are quite popular at the minute because they open flat. You would have to mess about taking all the lining out and it can be quite difficult. I actually like the idea of a cd cover because you just cut the magnetic sheet to size and your good to go. You could decorate the front with flat back gems and stuff.
