Its not really about wether its in style or not, but I do love the ombre look. I had it over two years ago, before it was 'in' style. now I have my underlayer dyed red.

If you want it, go for it! It doesn't really matter what's in or out, just do what you like! I personally love ombre hair I think its beautiful. I've always been afraid to get it though because I feel like they'll mess up lol.
