Better to have heat for a longer time on low heat; or a short time on high?
It doesn't take long with high heat but for lower heat it takes about 15 minutes longer

I'd say lower heat setting if you're not using a heat protectant. You can get good ones at a salon and for a good deal. They usually have buy 1 get 2 free or something sometimes.

I am using heat spray, fructis sleek and shine flat iron spray.

That should be fine. Just don't straighten it all the time. Learned that the hard way!!

At the end of the day, heat damage is heat damage. Either way you are getting the same damage. Just make sure you take care of your hair by using heat protectants, deep conditioning, hair masks, etc.

I think it would be worth it to take 15min on low heat, also a great heat protectant is aquage.
