I've done it before and honestly it's the same effect as a French braid but the hair just comes out in smaller waves

It's more like a wave from crimping rather than lose waves you find in fishtail braids but then again it depends is how thin your braiding your hair.

Yeah it works, the waves are just much smaller... I like it way better in my hair than a normal braid tbh :)
