My hair brush has so much greasy gross whiteish buildup from gel and other products and I've tried cleaning it with soap and water without any success. I've been considering using Dawn, what do you guys do?

I looked online about getting buildup off since my brush isn't very old and I read somewhere to use shampoo so I did and it came off.
