Okay-so I feel like this is a totally stupid question, but if you are going to the salon to get your hair colored, what do you do beforehand ie no shampooing etc? The older I get the darker my roots get (sigh) so I actually made a salon appointment instead of covering them myself. I have been using Loreal Couleur Experte for years but it has bleach highlights in it and I'm afraid it's going to damage my hair if I continue, plus it take me almost 3 hours to do it. Anyway, my appointment is today, and I washed my hair yesterday--don't wash it today correct? Anything else I need to know? Aftercare?

Use a leave in conditioner and colour treated shampoo.

Do nothing special. Just do what Em L. does...don't wash for a few days.

Don't do anything! They should give you after care instructions before you leave. If they don't, I always recommend to my guests not to wash their hair the next day, invest in a good color care shampoo and conditioner. It all depends on the integrity of your hair and your own personal hair care needs.

I also wash the day before and then don't wash a few days after.
