So I have oily skin. I really like liquid foundation, but I've found that I look very 'cakey'. I need full coverage, thanks to acne scars and redness. I try to matte my foundation with transparent powder, but after a few hours, I look very caked or melty. Does anyone else have this problem and/or a solution to this problem?

Are you using a primer? I've found that it really helps by adding that layer between my skin and foundation. I also use a mattifying gel underneath and I touch up with blotting papers then powder to avoid the caking.

using a mattifying primer can defintely help. estee lauder makes a pretty good one. as far as foundation goes, try the teint idole ultra from lancome. it gives a nice coverage and it dries down to a matte finish so you dont have to set with powder.

what foundation do u use? I use Revlon Colorstay and I looooove it. Its a medium to full coverage and stuff, but I do like 2 thin layers, which cover up nicely (I have the same problems as you) and apply a layer of loose powder but with the sponge it comes with, so I don't melt through out the day, After that to help set my makeup I get the foundation sponge damped in water, or do a light mist of water onto my face and PRESS the sponge gently against it so It doesn't look all cakey and stuff, It leaves my face really natural. Ill make a video soon and Ill let you know <3. Good luck

check out the products from cover fx. They have a mattifying primer that works wonders, and they're foundations are great. Plus they are made specifically for people with any type of problem skin, from super dry to super oily, sensitive and even people with skin disorders. Check them out...another point is they are a branch of MAC. So good quality all the way. Ive been using they're foundations for years, and I have oily skin, and its great. I even know people with sever acne that say coverfx has helped to clear up their skin, seeing as it doesn't clog your pores and many other of the great benefits.

I agree with Christine, I Use Studio Fix Fluid by M.A.C so far has been best ive found for my oily skin, do u matte ur foundation with a powder puff or with a brush

I've tried using primer, but it seems to make my foundation 'melt' and feels very greasy...perhaps I should try a different kind...Thank you for the suggestions!!

Yes, I agree with the advice here! I use Milk of Magnesia as a primer and it is a great primer! Also, for full coverage, I use MAC's Pro Longwear concealer, that is full coverage in itself and to set it, I use MAC's Studio Fix powder plus foundation. Now if you really don't want that makeup to move, use a setting spray. I use Urban Decay All Nighter. But there are different ones, so you have to find what works best for you!
