I did it until they disabled my account for some BS reason (which they do often to other people). You make money from it. It's like being half-partner on YouTube. You get a check every time you get 100$ from people clicking on ads.

I did it because I was tired of seeing the bar saying that im eligible for monetization lol. Basically you get the opportunity to run ads before or during your video and based on clicks you get some money.
I think i've made like a dollar so far lol but i put my earnings on hold. I did that because if you make over $400 you have to file it on your taxes because your basically your own business. Idk that just kind of scared me out of it

I'm a Youtube partner, and basically it works like this, youtube isn't creating any content, they just host a website where I make videos. I am the one bringing in viewers. But then if a company wants to advertise, youtube gets the money. So in order to give me incentive to keep making videos, youtube gives me a cut of what companies give them, and then they put ads either on the side of or before a video. The amount of money I make depends on how many views/comments/ratings/favorites I get and I get more if my viewers click the ads on my videos.
Hope that explains it well, I actually think it's a really good system and I haven't had any problems with it.

I only had about 70 when I got my partnership, but if you're bringing in a consistent audience, you should be able to get paid for it (note, this is not necessarily going to pay your bills, I barely make $5 a video). I think people who get mad about the partnerships are really rude. People aren't less genuine or nice just because they're getting paid, and you've obviously been doing it without compensation for this long, but I've found you're going to get haters no matter what.

Yeah, definitely sponsored ones because then you don't know if they're getting additional incentive to say the product was great. I only get a couple hundred views per video, so you should definitely think about doing the partnership.

The only differences between monetizing your videos and being an actual Partner is that you can't customize your thumbnails or add a banner on your channel. This offer is not a partnership, but it's for you to share some of the income that YouTube makes.
You should monetize your videos. YouTube is making money from your videos, so there's no reason why shouldn't you get a small portion of that. It's not selling out at all because your not telling people to click on the ads or making them watch your video. AND I am pretty sure the cost of making your videos (products, internet, equipment) is way more than money you will be making. ;)

Honestly, as long as the video is good, even if you have an ad before it doesn't tend to turn that many people away. It's only a handful of seconds to wait for something they want to see. I think it's worth the compensation

I don't really care for it. I get annoyed seeing ads so why should I put my subscribers through that? Admittedly it is only a couple of seconds lost but it's nicer to be able to see the content you want right away instead of having yt be like tv.

I don't mind the ads, they're only a few seconds usually. I know how much work can go into making one video so I really don't mind. I am a YT partner, but whether we like it or not, YT is making money off of our videos regardless if we monetize or not.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure there's some setting that gives you the option of what kind of ads you want on your video. If you don't want the video ads, you can skip out on them. There are other forms of advertisements that youtube uses such as that little gray box that pops up at the bottom of the video, the advertised videos on top of the list of related videos, and the bigger still ads on top of the list of related videos. You don't make as much money off of those, but if you're worried people won't be willing to sit through an ad, those might be a better option.

I just got the little thing that says that I'm eligible for partnership, but since I don't even have 100 subscribers yet... It feels weird. Not legit. I remember when I was watching gurus who were having problems getting partnerships at 5,000 subscribers. Besides, I haven't exactly told my mom that I'm making videos yet... So, it may not be the best idea. :)
