Use shaving cream so you can clearly see what areas you've shaved.

If you exfoliate before you shave you get a closer shave.

Rub your legs after you shave and then if you missed a patch of hair you'll feel it

LOL I seriously was thinking this exact same thing when I was showering tonight. I wish I had tips, but I'm the 20 year old who can shave without nicking herself, sorry :(

I exfoliate and then shave downwards first, reapply shaving cream (I use EOS. I hate their lip balm but their shaving cream is great) and then I shave upwards. I find it gets more hair that way. You could also shave across in a few areas. I have the same problem, and my hair grows back so fast. Some days I just have to skip shaving all together and wear jeans even though it's summer because I just simply don't have the time to shave every other day. Waxing would probably work better as it keeps the hair away longer but it's painful and usually messy so I myself tend to stay away from it. Hair removal creams could also work but they can be very irritating and burn sensitive skin. They also don't always get all the hair either. But I really recommend the EOS shaving cream. I used to get razor burn and nicks all the time even if I used a cream and a new razor. The EOS crean is soo creamy and moisturizing, I haven't had cuts or razor burn since I've been using it.

I don't shave- but I use nair hair removing cream. It is awesome! It last longer than shaving and the hair grows back smooth and not as dark.
