I'm not trying to preach but this issue is really bothering me.
I've notice on tv, youtube and sometimes on this site that a lot of women of color really hate their skin. Now, I'm not talking about acne, dry or oliy skin. I'm talking about hate their skin tone. Women who are black, black latina, south pacific asian or eastern asian, etc., PLEASE LOVE the skin that your are born with. It's beautiful and many women wish to have your skin color and then some. If there are disposable people in your life that make you question your skin color, DUMP THEM OUT LIKE YESTERDAYS TRASH. If you have family that are downing you because of your color, SPEAK UP. Don't try to change something that is part of you and your history. EMBACE THE BEAUTIFUL YOU!!
Like RuPaul says: If you don't love yourself, how the hell are you going to love somebody else!
PS: I'm not saying all of us hate ourselves.

That is so true Pamela, I have super pale skin and I use to hate it. I would look at women with darker skin think how lucky you ladies are, but eventually I realized that all I have to do us find the beauty in the skin I have now I really enjoy my skin tone and I find it fun changing my hair color to accent it. So glad you posted thus because it is common among girls with porcelain pale skin to loathe our color as well. All of you ladies are beautiful.

Thanks Ladies and You're Welcome! @Tara I think porcelain skin is absolutely gorgeous. I grew up idolizing (Gwen Stefani) a woman who has porcelain skin. The hair colors your guys can pull off omg and RED LIPSTICK on your skin tone is just ughhhh amazingly beautiful!

I struggle with redness and I have KP on my arms and legs so they looked like chicken skin. It looked like I had a rash all the time. It wasn't until adulthood that I learned how to make my skin look better. I guess we all have challenges no matter what shade our skin is.

Thank you for this post. I've noticed on here how woman are wanting to lighten up their skin...I know a lot of it is a cultural thing (I.e. caste system still alive and well in many countries) but its really sad to see and hear. I've never had an issue not loving my skintone. I love it when it gets darker over the summer and love it just as equally when I'm lighter during the winter. I just love the skin that am in.

Thank You Ladies! @Shelly It really is! I for one never grew up around people who hated their skin tone or were made fun of. I hate coming on here and reading about girls who want to look lighter because they want to look like their idol or think that's what beauty is. I hate when I see young girls on here who haven't even grown into their features say their ugly because they're looking at miley cyrus or selana gomez. As a young girl, my idol was gwen Stefani. I never wanted to look like her. I just loved who she was, her style, beauty and talent. @Tara I totally understand the redness issue. When I was younger I used to get sooo red in the winter and the summer time where it would hurt. If you don't mind me asking what's KP?

It's keratosis pilaris otherwise known a chicken skin. It isn't contagious you are born with it. Rough bumps usually located in the back if the upper arm and the thighs, mine almost covers my while arms and legs. It's rough and dry sometimes itches. I've gotten it under more control in the last couple years but man was it embarrassing in school. It doesn't really bother me so much anymore.

Well sad to say some girls an women are a victim of a socity that makes them think light is right I can understand not being happy with your skins condition but not to love the skin your in is very sad to me

That's right Samantha you can learn to fall in love with your pale skin, if I can anyone can. Just accept it for what it is and start experimenting with looks that will showcase your light skin. Very dark hair looks lovely with pale skin.

@ tara I have kp on the backs of my arms to there almost gone now because I use those exfoliating gloves an a glycolic cleanser there a pain n the you no what lol.
Jun 26, 2013
Tara G.
Thanks Traci! I'll try that. I forgot how much I love those exfoliating gloves I need to get another pair. It is a pain because it's constant upkeep. I found that organic extra virgin coconut oil after shower really helps too, plus it just smells amazing.

@Tara Oh okay. Kids can be cruel!! I have eczema on my wrist, knuckles and sadly to say in between my chest (thank god their big to cover). During the spring, summer and fall you don't see it but in the winter time it flares up.
@Samantha. Think Vita Don Teese. Me and my mom love her. She's so freakin beautiful and classy!!
