My nails peel and peel, I have tried different cream and oils to strengthen them and try to take vitamins for my nails. I got a manicure the other day and the lady asked me if I was allergic to my nail polish..anyone heard of this? As I use all different types of polish so I'd have to go without and introduce them back in one by one to find out I am hoping this isn't true! HAs this happened to anyone?

It's possible but not very common. If your nails are peeling it's more of an indication that you have something medically wrong with you. Are you anemic by any chance? Diabetes? Or any health problems run in your family? When was your last medical workup including blood work? (Pst, not saying you have answer these questions but rather ask yourself those questions.)

I'm not saying you're sick of anything but it's more likely you have some underlying medical condition rather than being allergic to nail polish. Only your doctor can rule the medical or allergy aspect out.

It could be the way you file your nails if you file them back and forth, and not in one direction.it could also be acetone drying out your nails. Maybe you could try letting your nails grow out completely without polish or buffering, just oil or a repairing polish like this one http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1214&bih=683&q=nail+tek&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=2455457302677017128&sa=X&ei=nRyqT63lGOGW2AXVk6GpAg&ved=0CMEBEPMCMAM

My nails have always peeled too which causes my polish to wear off quickly. It's annoying but I haven't found out how to fix it yet either - I've tried so many products and I've even tried not painting my nails for MONTHS. I have low iron levels (not super low, just slightly) so that may be it, judging from what Yasmin said.

it's probably because your nails are dry. I suffer from the same problem and it seems like there's no solution! So frustrating. And I just can't wear my nails without polish, because they look horrible.

Like Yasmin said it could be a medical problem. You might not be getting enough protein or vitamin k, my nails use to peel. I eat a lot healthier now that I live alone and cook for myself, I paint my nails at least 2 times a week and I never have them unpolished yet they are doing so much better. If you are healthy inside, it will show on the outside.

I have this problem, too. I was told when I was young, I was producing too much oil. That wasn't the case. Turns out I have chronic medical conditions which cause my body not to digest my vitamins/minerals well. Get your bloodwork done to see if you're body's in need of something, and stay away from unnatural nail polishes for a while.

My nails look TERRIBLE with polish on. I recently had to just chop them all off because they were so horrible. Now I'm back to little stubby nails. So sad!! =[

*without polish on!!!!!

It could also be the nailclippers. If its not sharp anymore, it can do that.
