I've had my nose pierced for a month now and I got it changed at the piercing shop the other day from a stud into a ring. It has been quite painful since and has formed a lump on the outside and it has bled and been getting crusty. Is it infected and would it be best if I changed it back to the stud for a few weeks?

Yes, does seem like an infection. you should visit a dermatologist and get an antibiotic.

The same thing happened to me when I got my nose pierced. I've had it got almost a year now. The lump that it's forming is called a keloid. It's simply your skin healing on the outside because it's not used to something being in your nose. It probably is infected as well though. Clean it regularly. Do sea salt soaks. Get a cup of warm water, mix salt into it, and submerge your nose in it so that the piercing is soaking in water. Now, about the keloid. Crush uncoated aspirin tablet and mix enough water into it so that it creates a paste. Put this on the bump AFTER cleaning/soaking it at night. Soak it at least 2 times a day. And put the aspirin on over night only. This helped me and my bump and infection are COMPLETELY gone. I even asked my piercer to make sure it was safe and he said people do it all the time. Good luck!
