Use lighter colors. to not pack it on as much start with a white shadow then apply the rest but lightly

You can use them all over your lid as a base or you can use them under your waterline and just go over them with the corresponding shade of eyeshadow (gold eyeshadow on top of gold liner) to increase pigmentation :)

Use a lighter or stove like get the pencil tip to touch it for like half a sec don't let it like melt like crazy it makes it smoother and when its smoother it becomes more pigmented and darker when you apply it.
