So I don't have very prominent cheekbones so I have been attempting to contour them with blush and bronzed but I watched a YouTube video on how to contour and they used highlighter. Should I go out and buy some?

It does help contrast the darkness of the bronzer to create a more chiseled effect. If anything, you can even get yourself a lighter concealer...

But basically to accentuate the features you want to be noticed.
