@Dana M. I'm just waiting for my hair to grow a bit longer so I don't look like a poodle. Although it may look long in the picture my hair is short.

Don't do it. I git a perm exactly a year ago, and not only did it fry ALL of my hair, I still can't get my hair to stop peing frizzy! (I had naturally sleek hair) it looked god for a little bit, but it was high maintenance.I'm still waiting for ny hair to gtow out, because it also fried my own experience roots. not worth it.

Before you do that try lustrasilk curl max it's really cheap you can get it for like 5 dollars in the ethnic hair section at Walmart it helps with curls but it also makes your hair grow like crazy I didn't know it would help with hair growth but after I began to use it my hair just started to grow so much faster

@Jessica L. Oh jeez I bet.! I've done a lot of research but to hear from real women and their experience is what I consider most and from what you're telling me it doesn't sound pretty, being that your hair was healthy, compared to mine, right now its dry with split ends. At this moment my chances of getting a perm are low.

@Charlese C. Really.!? Thanks I'm going to try that. I use Organic Coconut Oil for treatments and so far its helped with the dryness since my hair had been bleached and dyed countless times. Ill try that though, thanks (:

Also I wouldn't do it if your hair is damaged if you really want to try it slowly cut the damaged parts out as you grow your hair then perm it.

Like the other girls I suggest trying out different products. when I get home ill post pics of the products I used to maintain frizz and keep my hair curly :) btw one of my absolute favourites is john frieda. it is pricey but they have this strong hold serum that you apply when your hair is wet and you comb it, and wheb your hair air dries it becomes tamed and curly. also they have other products for curly hai that are absolutely amazing.

Perms aren't good for your hair at all because they are chemically altering your hair. Your hair will be damaged to some extent. To get the perm out of my hair, because I have been perming my hair for a long time, I had to completely cut my hair because you could tell the difference in texture of my hair when my hair grew. One part was bone straight (what perms do to my hair) whilethe other was wavy/curly. Only way to fix it was getting another relaxer (and I told myself I was done with relaxers) or cutting out the relaxer I already had (about 6 or 7 inches of hair). Also, if you have weak hair perms do not help ANY, makes it worse or leaves it about the same. But there are no hair health benefits of it. So if you want it think about it loooong and hard first.

Well, after long considering I went to good hairdresser and had a perm before one month and I absolutely LOVE IT!! I have super straight hair and it really help me so I can create various types curls + even if I don't do nothing special in the morning it still looks great!! Summer wet look ;) It also add to hair big volume - YEAH! and no more grease - SECOND YEAH! About the damage I don't think it is such a big deal :) I have a "relieved" (means not for the half year but for 2-3 months) and I don't think it damaged my hair a lot and also I don't see big difference in structure etc... But it's true that I use before I got it repair shampoo with keratin so I have them relatively healthy and now I use nutrition shampoo. I heard about the damage a lot from people (and of course everyones hair are different) and why I want it but finally they like it at me and some friends try curls after me! LOL :DDD So I would say go for it and rock your curls!!

@Erin M. Wow, I already have a problem thinking I have short hair, I'm too stubborn to cut it anymore. I'm starting to think a perm isn't for me. I'll just let my natural curly hair grow back. Thanks for your help.

@Juana R. I'm glad you were halt with your results, but as for me, giving the perm a second thought through and I don't think it's for me. Thank you though (:
