I am soon in need of a new hair straightener. I bought one that was over $200 dollars quite a few years ago but from all the use and being dropped a couple times, she's on her last leg :( Can anyone recommend a good straightener? I have long thick hair. Maybe one that causes the least amount of damage if that's even possible?

I have a ghd that I have had for about 5 years. I have long thick hair and the wide one does the job great.

GHD's are worth all the money! I paid about 200-300 on mine five years ago and even after using every second day for five years it's still just like new! Best purchase I've ever made.

GHD! It's a born survivor! No matter how old it is, it will always work like it's brand new! Sadly the rubber covering broke and whenever I turn it on electricity sparks fly out of it :( it will be missed :(

Would definitely recommend a ghd. I have both thick and thin plates. for thick hair I would recommend the thicker plates. use a heat spray to prevent damage :)
have a look on their website they usually do good sets with a heat proof mat or including a hair dryer etc
