I am hoping to make the switch to cruelty free products. I am happy to see some of my cosmetics and other things are on the list of cruelty free but sad to see how much isn't. I am not going to waste what I have as I have already spent/supported the company but when I need new stuff I am going to pick more carefully. Anyone else do this?
PS. My bf is kind of sad all the things I am telling him that are his and going to change lol

I did this, uhm... either my 20th birthday last year of my 19th. I think it was in 2010. I do slip up every now and then. I have with a Rimmel mascara (it was on clearance for under two dollars and I really needed a new one and I was low on extra cash) and the makeup remover (other removers like to burn my eyeballs) so uh... yeah. And I still have urges to get a Maybelline or a Loreal or a whatever the heck product sometimes, but I eventually ignore it.

The choice to switch does not have to be one or the other... Any small item in your stash makes a difference, and the same goes for being Eco-conscious! Even if you can't completely make the switch, every little bit counts. =]

It's not just a matter of if the company is cruelty free but also if they use animal products or by products in the ingredients. You need to first educate yourself on what animal products or by-products contribute to ingredients in your makeup. For example, many mascaras and eyeliners use Black # 3 which happens to be made of cow bones. Once you know what items are really animal products or byproducts you can then read the ingredients on the packaging or website of a company to determine if you want to buy the item or not.

Yasmin- Would they be able to obtain a cruelty free seal using animal products in their ingredients?

I'm not entirely sure about that. I think PETA - who gives those bunny seals - require the company not to use any animal products but I could be wrong. Best place to find that info out is the Leaping Bunny website. http://www.leapingbunny.org/shopping.php
