So I had ny hair done today and the highlights came out more gold then I wanted..was going for more of a caramel blonde. will purple shampoo take out some of the gold to make it more of a neutral blonde.

Yes, purple shampoo will tone down the yellow in the hair to make it a little more neutral. You might have to play with how long you leave the shampoo on for, depending on how much yellow you want cancelled out. It will be a subtle difference, but it definitely helps.

I agree with Sarah; you paid for a service and most stylists are happy to make sure you're 100% happy! But, if you're ok with using a purple shampoo then yes it will neutralize the yellow tones in the hair.
