So this would be my sixth or seventh try dreading my hair. I can not keep then in for more then a couple weeks. I'm really impatient. Does anyone if there is anyway to speed up the locking process?

None but time and patience, honey. With straight hair, it'll take especially long. Just make sure you keep it away from water and palm roll it regularly with dread jam or beeswax. Have patience! After 3 months or so, it'll start to look proper (:

Use dread wax, and special shampoo, and keep it waxed all the time, and make sure you roll the dread properly when waxing.

Is there any type if wax you would recommend?

You can easily find special dread wax online, I think the site I used to use was dreadheadhq.com or something like that. It's nice to roll a little tea tree oil in them too to help keep em clean
