I have to wear a semi-formal dress to a dinner gala and its in California. Do people usually glitz it up or stay more on the reserved side for semi formal events there? (I'm from La/Texas and we go all out! I don't want to look out of place!) example of dresses or looks would be great!!

I've never been to a dinner gala but if its going to be super fancy why not dress up (: but keep in mind no one really dresses up in fancy prom type of dresses here to go out it also depends where in California? try to wear a cute cute simple dress but not too plain and some cute heels and everyone loves make up here lol so do your hair and make up all out if you want

Cali girls always dress very fashionable and lol glitz is definitely a southern term we don't use on the west side just think high fashion lots of makeup and accessories for sure :) hope that helps.

And I live in the bay area! so yes definitely high fashion and I swear all the girls here are makeup artists! everyone wears makeup like a pro its great!

I'm from the bay and we always get super glammed up for events! wear a dress and heels(flats in your bag:p) nice earrings and makeup that is extravagent but doesn't look cakey.:) Have fun!
