So according to oprahs website, you are not supposed to wear mascara and eyeliner on both the top lashes and the bottom or it will add 10 years to your face. Do you guys agree with this? They claim that mascara on the bottom makes your eyes droop and sag and draw attention to under eye circles.

Maybe the older looking part, but only because there's a certain maturity assumed when you line your whole eye... but I disagree with the under due circle bit, at least in my case. I find a bit of liner draws the focus up from the bags, provided it's not too thick on the bottom.

That said I've never been able to apply mascara to bottom lashes without looking ridiculous but I've seen it on other people looking okay. my bottom lashes are kind of too long so I get mascara on my face immediately. I usually leave it up to the eyeliner to touch up my lower lashes :)

Lol it gets so confusing sometimes. one person will say to do one thing while another says that one thing is incorrect. I always wear liner and mascara on top and bottom. if I don't, it looks like I forgot and its unfinished.

It's because bottom lashes with mascara put a shadow under your eye, therefore making it look like you are darker under the eyes. But I find wearing no makeup under my eye makes my eyes appear too small..

I tend to find lining both bottom and top makes eyes look small and piggy, but that's just my opinion I guess!

I think you have to factor in her age. A lot of people do that and it doesn't make a difference. Again what works for one may not work for someone else.

I only put mascara on my lower lashes for like an evening look or outing because I think it makes the eyes look that much more glamorous... not aged. Weird.

I really like using bottom lash mascaras that are meant for bottom lashes but for a couple of years I haven't been able to find them anymore. They provide the perfect amount for the lashes and doesn't reflect a shadow.Do any of you know where I could find them? By the way I love Oprah makeup artist beautiful work but every artist goes by different things and do not always agree.I go by your face lol that's a lesson to learn.

Lol! Yet again Oprah online editors recite some nonsense. I blasted a fashion editor on Twitter last year for writing an article in the magazine stating that women over 35 shouldn't wear mini-skirts. Took offense because I'm 39 with the toned legs of an 18 year old. I even sent a pic of myself competing in a figure competition. He publicly retracted his comment after that. Rules suck in fashion and beauty and I really wish they would just disappear. Oprah just needs to stick to motivational speaking and stay out of the beauty world.

Thanks ladies who added their pics on here. You are all gorgeous! I definitely agree with the majority of you. Makeup is so not cut and dry. One rule does not apply to everyone. I think thats why I was kinda taken aback oprahs website. That just seems like such a genral statement that would surely offend some if not most women and I didnt think oprah did stuff like that I guess there were 9 other facts about makeup that I didnt read. Maybe I should lol just for a good laugh.

I do a smokey eye with brown shadow all around the eye and tight line my bottom lash line, with a regular line on the top lash line. I put mascara on my top lashes only. Eyes are accentuated without that lower lash line drag look.

It all depends on the shape of the eye occasion and age if line bottom with black go inside with som white eyeshadow it make the eye fresh however if you have large protruding eyes don't line bottom with blk if eyes ah large line bottom lids half way..hope that helped.

I think they were talking about women of a certain age. Have you seen the bags under her eyes?
