Just tell her that since you're getting older now you'd like to be more independent and choose what you want to wear. don't be disrespectful but let her know how you feel and describe to her what you would like your new style to be so she can be understanding. maybe even put together a pinterest board or polyvore.

You could probably reuse some of your old clothes! If they're pieces that can't be incorporated into any outfit, then selling it would be a good thing to do! Don't throw away everything though, since stuff could easily be used in other outfits. But what Emma said is 100% right, good luck! Keep us posted!

Start off with buying the basics and then build your wardrobe off of it :)

My mum used to be the same - even now I go shopping with her and she just makes excuses as to why I shouldn't get it! Very frustrating. Online shopping is a great way to be independent about what you buy. But don't throw clothes away, maybe pick out some items that you really do like and when browsing online, think about things that could go with them to make an outfit in the style you'd like. Starting over doesn't mean literally starting again - just think of it as a 'revamp' if anything! Good luck, you'll look great :)

You can definitely reuse your old clothes by incorporating like an old shirt with a skirt or something or you can even DIY them and make an old shirt a new shirt that's what you like... Hope you find your style and have fun with it ;)
