Is it true that a tan helps with blemishes? and if so, what tanning "stuff" should I use? I refuse to spray tan or use tanning beds.

An actual suntan can help get rid of blemishes coz the sun dries them out
just put on some sunscreen and go out and about in the sun =]

It can help dry current blemishes, but in the long run it is worse for you. The same drying effect causes your skin to produce more oil, plus you are sweating in the heat, leading to more blemishes. Not to mention all of the exposure to UV radiation that leads to wrinkles, discoloration, and skin cancer. Even with sunscreen you are absorbing that radiation, so minimizing exposure is important. Try and find a face care routine to treat your blemishes at the cause.
